Discovering our Purpose and Passion

Some Basic Foundations!

1.                 You are not an accident!
Isaiah 44:2 (I am your creator. You were in my care even before you were born)

2.                 Before you were conceived, God thought of you. Not fate, chance, luck or coincidence you are breathing here at this very moment.

3.                 Bible says, “The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me” Psalm 138:8

4.                 God chose every detail of your body. Race, color of skin, hair, every feature. Also your natural talents…your personality. Psalm 1 39:15-16 (Have someone read).

5.                 Sometimes emphasis on spiritual gifts…not the other things!

6        That creative process did not stop at childbirth.

7.                 God has been molding and shaping you over the years with a care that exceeds that of the most meticulous craftsman.

8.                 He put you in a unique family.

9.                 He gave you a unique personality.

10.                 He has given you unique abilities, and He has woven a unique assortment of motivators into the very fabric of your life

11.            God made you absolutely unique for a purpose.

12.            Eph. 1:4 God’s motive for creating you? Love.

13.            God designed world’s environment so we could live in it. James 1:18

14.            Most important of all the things He made! YOU.

15.            God made you for a reason!

16.            Part of His plan.

17.            Precious and perfect unique design.

18.            God’s special woman or man.

19.            He made you like He wanted you to be.

20.            Parents you had were the ones He chose. (no matter how bad a childhood we may have had).

21.            May have to struggle with this…and forgive parents.   If we had a less than ideal childhood.

22.            Guess what? WE ALL had a less than ideal childhood.

Dreams

Many of us give up on our dreams.

We simply don’t believe they could happen.

Or we learned that they were unrealistic, or others didn’t support us in them.

We need to have dreams and visions. God wants us to think BIG!!

God wants to give you dreams, visions and gifts.  They are important and the body of Christ will not be complete if you don’t have them!

Dreams and visions can include:

          Ministry vision
          Helping people
          Relationally-marriage, family
Relating to God in certain ways-intimacy
          Friendships

Purpose motivates your life! Purpose driven Life book.

Purpose produces “Passion” (What excites you…what drives you…what makes you get up in the morning raring to go? Do you get up raring to go? (wait for a response…

When you fully comprehend that there is more to life than just here and now, and you realize that life is just preparation for eternity…you will begin to live differently. Living in Light of Eternity. Will make a difference how you handle every relationship, task and circumstance.

What makes you tick?
What is your passion, the spark that needs only a little breeze to ignite into a raging fire?
What do you enjoy so much that you’d do it without pay?
What gives you a deep sense of satisfaction and purpose?
What do you feel you are missing in your life?

EXERCISE:

Turn to your neighbor and share “If you could do anything you wanted when you grow up…what would it be…or “If I knew I couldn’t fail, this is what I would attempt to do for God with my life. If education, finances, age, circumstances, location were not a limiting factor, what do you feel the Lord would want you to do?

What do you sense the Lord leading you to do?

That will reveal something about who you really are!

Spiritual Gifts

1.                 A spiritual gift is given to each of us as a means of helping the entire church.

2.                 Local church is a place God designed for you to discover, develop, and use your gifts.

3.       Ministry outside Eastbrook, but here is the main place to use your gifts.

 What is Passion?

Everyone has a passion!

God given ability to attach to something or someone to meet a need over a period of time.

Romans 15:20.   “Deeply desired”

Passion is a fire.

Tried not to do it, I couldn’t.

Passion wakes you up at nite or keeps you awake.

Think about the subject when subject not on the table.

Fuel of calling.

Passion keeps you going when you want to be uncalled.

Do it even if you weren’t paid to do it. Compelled to take action.

Everything else is 2nd best.

Not able to express yourself. Locked up. Fire wants to be let out!
