. Our beloved Nora O'Leary, a former staff member at the Baja Mission, graduated to heaven this week. Board member Carrie Irving wrote:
That
makes me incredibly sad. Norita was a good friend. I loved her
dearly. I loved being a part of what God did in her life over the
years. Each small step of faith she took just blessed me so much. When
she moved off the mission base into her own trailer with her purple hair
and joyous spirit, I wanted to applaud. She had come so far and become
a whole person. So beautiful to watch God's amazing work in a life. I
will really miss her and her incredible faith. She loved her Lord and
King soooooo much. She must be incredibly happy right now.
A year ago we had a part of Nora's testimony in the newsletter:
Nora has faithfully served at the Baja Mission for 16 years. Nora's journey to the Mission was a trail of brokenness and tears.
"At 20 years old,I was addicted to heroin and a battered wife with nowhere
to look but up. God sent a friend to tell me that God had a wonderful
life planned for me if I would just trust Him and invite Him in. I did.
But it was not an easy journey. At 46, my life hit the skids again. My pastor sent me to the Baja Mission for healing and refocus. I began serving in the kitchen. After 10 years, I took a position as receptionist in the Medical Center. He brought healing to me as I encouraged and prayed for others. I am so grateful to God and to Him be the glory!"
