Presenter: Stan Rowland: Founder of CHE: Community Health Evangelism & Neighborhood Transformation.

Author of MULTIPLYING LIGHT AND TRUTH.

The purpose of this envisioning seminar offered by the Collaborative for Neighborhood Transformation (www.neighborhoodtransformation.net) is to see how believers in Milwaukee can work together to alleviate poverty through Neighborhood Transformation in their own neighborhoods.

Neighborhood Transformation (NT) trains church lay-people how to enter a nearby poor neighborhood, develop relationships and identify assets already found in the neighborhood in individuals and groups. Building on these assets, the goal is to see the gospel bring true poverty alleviation over time.

NT seeks to transform individuals and neighborhoods by helping churches address the root causes of poverty, disease and spiritual darkness by training local church people to share the gospel and mobilize neighborhood actions. Neighborhoods identify their assets and take responsibility for their own lives by learning to change things that they want to see changed in their neighborhood. NT is multi-faceted, functioning in urban poor neighborhoods as Community Health Evangelism functions in the developing world.

Stan Rowland, Coordinator of the Collaborative for Neighborhood Transformation, will facilitate the sessions. This is a unique opportunity to learn from the experience of one who has catalyzed, equipped, and mobilized teams for Community Health Evangelism and Neighborhood Transformation ministry around the world. He will provide an overview of NT principles and methods, and provide participants with information about how they can initiate and develop NT ministries in their communities.

If you would like to register please go to www.atmlive.org, and follow the registration link from the home page. The seminar is limited to 30 participants on a first come, first served basis. Due to limited seating, it is recommended that you complete your registration as soon as possible. For information, please contact RNDASSOW@ATT.NET

Neighborhood Transformation : Pass on to your friends

Dear Friends:

I am spearheading the coming to Milwaukee of Neighborhood Transformation.

The purpose of this Visioning or Introduction to Neighborhood Transformation Seminar (www.neighborhoodtransformation.net) is to see and show how believers in Milwaukee can work together to alleviate poverty through Neighborhood Transformation in their own neighborhoods.

Stan Rowland founder of CHE and author of the book Multiplying Light and Truth is going to be the presenter at our Vision seminar on Oct. 28 and 29th

END RESULT: People coming to Christ and reaching out to each other wholistically. And even some new churches have been planted, both locally and globally.

You may have heard of CHE or Community Health Evangelism which has taken the experience and principles learned in overseas missions and is putting them into practice in urban areas of the U.S.

We are trying to reach the inner city pastors in Milwaukee and to get this information around to as many church leaders as possible. That is where YOU come in. First of all, please pray for this outreach that can have a major impact on Milwaukee!
Just like Rock The Lakes Festival!

You can also help by forwarding this email on to Christian people in your email address book. Some of your friends may have connections to pastors. It’s all about relationships as you know! IF you do have a relationship with an inner city pastor or church leader that would be a great help to me!

I am willing to personally meet with any church leader in Milwaukee and further explain how this seminar can be of major benefit to their church. I will be making phone calls and cold visits to pastors starting next week, but any advance information you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

This is a personal project of mine without backing or funding of any church. NOT looking for any funding!

I personally felt led to have the seminar at a neutral inner city location, the reason we picked City On a Hill (Old Lutheran Hospital). Convenient, safe and low cost.

We are relying on personal contacts to get this info around, before we spend funds on expensive brochures and mailings. I am NOT benefitting in any way financially on this community outreach!

Any thoughts, ideas or words of wisdom would be appreciated.

There is a video interview of Stan Rowland on my BLOG. See below.
See the link to Neighborhood Transformation.

Thank you for reading to the end of my long message and considering to pray for this new outreach in Milwaukee and how it can have a major impact!

If you have any questions please contact me.

Attached is this same message that you could forward to your friends with some tweaking if so led.

Thank you.

NorthShore Finishing Well Group

You are probably wondering why the name "Finishing Well" for my blog.
I grew up in the North Shore area of Milwaukee on a farm. Yes, in Glendale.
So my "roots" run deep!

Go to my latest blog post!

It all started when I read an interesting book, "FINISHING WELL BY Bob Buford.
The book talked about how we live our lives and that we all want to have an impact on the world and finish our life well.

I intended to start a book discussion group in the area where I grew up-The NorthShore area of Milwaukee. Just about one-half mile from the location of our farm our church has a coffee house, "Holy Grounds" Perfect place for connecting with people.

I started entering information on the blog about what I was involved in, "Helping People Grow Food When There is Little or No Rain" and it kept growing. I was just experimenting to see how a blog works. When I decided I had learned what I needed to know I decided to change the title of the blog and discovered that I couldn't!

Basically, the message of the book was/is that we should finish our life well.
That could mean different things to different people. Here is an excerpt from the book, "Make sure you die in battle. It's good to know what your desired outcomes and objectives are, but you never know what's going to happen in your life. The key is to live intentionally, with passion, for a cause that's worthy of your life. And then die bloody. I plan to go down swinging. I want to die in battle."
I agree with this!

So what's your mission?

"Must have clarity about the mission.I look for people I respect who are practical-minded. I want to be sure it's the sort of project that I can bring something of value to, and in which I'm being involved in a meaningful way. So I always ask myself: Is it a mission I believe in? Do I believe in the people who are in it? and Does it use my talents and gifts in a way that engage me?"

There's a lot of noise going on in the world. We need to listen to God speaking to us and that it is God that is speaking.

"A twenty-five-year high-productivity plan at age sixty built entirely around the core of the things you love to do struck me as a great strategy for finishing well."

I'm starting alittle late...past 60, but I believe this with a passion.
No, I'm not retired, I'm refired!

When I stand before Jesus one day, I want to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant". Isn't that what you want to hear?

So that's how the blog got it's name.

No, I haven't started the book discussion group-yet!

So, I hope you all go out and purchase the book. "Finishing Well" by Bob Buford.

We actually don't have to meet in person. We can do a webinar. Anyone interested?
